Ayam Alezz is a Lebanese restaurant located on Jumeirah Road in Umm Suqeim. Entering Ayam Alezz is like going back to the Lebanon of a different era:the tastefully done interiors, the soulful music, and the delicious food will definitely transport you to the country’s swinging sixties! All the three elements blend extremely well to give you a great Lebanese dining experience.
My friend and I headed here for a late breakfast on a weekend, where we were greeted by the restaurant manager Rana.We ordered the breakfast tray which offers 10 items with tea or orange juice for two people at a price of AED 86. This dish is a scrumptious arrangement of a wide variety of cheeses and jams in addition to eggs, foul, and tahini, all served with za’atar and fresh khaboos (Arabic bread). The tray also includes a fresh salad and sour cream.
I think the tray is enough for two people as there are a plenty of items to devour. There are no flaws to pick though, because every item on the tray is delicious. I loved the combination of cheese and jam, the eggs were cooked to perfection, and the foul went very well with the fresh bread. We ordered the pomegranate juice with our meal, which was served in a pomegranate-shaped glass. The drink looked pretty in this arrangement, but its taste was a bit of a disappointment as it felt somewhat diluted.
We were also served fattet hummus with our meal, which is a serious modification on the dish’s classic flavor. The fattet spin includes crispy bread and pine nuts with the classic chickpea, yogurt, and tahini mix, which means you get the original hummus’s creamy and smooth texture with the crunchiness of the nuts and toasty bread.
Next came the eggs with cheese, a dish that included perfectly scrambled eggs with chunks of feta. We also had za’atar cheese bread to go with it. We ended our meal with a flavourful Moroccan tea which was served in an exquisite manner (picture below). When you feel fresh and light even after such a grand fare, you know the restaurant’s food quality is top notch. If you love Lebanese culture, then you will definitely fall in love with this place just like I did, and you guys are sure to leave Ayam Alezz with a smile and a satisfied tummy. A big thumbs up to Rana and her team for getting everything right. I’m definitely coming back to try the lunch and dinner menu soon.
