Probably the only Cuban lounge in Dubai, Cubano lito is a place that transports you back to Cuba with its tastefully done interiors and carefully crafted menu. Located in the ibis World Trade Center, Cubano lito is just the place for you after a busy day of work. Curious to try this new place I reserved my table through my favorite table reservation app, eatapp.co. Eat app has been my favorite from the day I knew about it. Hassle free and user-friendly, this app confirms you restaurant table in less than a minute. So I booked a table one day after work and was all set to try the place.
We met the restaurant manager Mr Sandor and were ushered to our table. The minute we settled down we had one of their signature cocktails, the cubano libre in front of us which is a simple yet heady dark rum based cocktail. Next came in the mojito. Now this wasn’t your regular mojito, this was actually done the Cuban way and tasted absolutely refreshing like nothing other. Our 3rd drink was the La mula, yet another lovely concoction but mojito stood out for me.
We also ordered their signature tapas which had 2 types of empanadas, one filled with shredded beef and the other stuffed with halloumi cheese and guava paste. I absolutely loved the later. We had plantain chips topped with beef and sautéed prawns and pineapple. I love the freshness of this cuisine, they mostly deal with seafood and fruits. Tropical vibes! We tried the fried chicken strips with mango chutney and some fried potato balls with beef. These are the perfect tapas you need with your drinks.
Cubano lito doesn’t boast of a big menu, but they do have some specials for the main course. We ordered the meat and the seafood platter which were served with steamed veggies and a side of rice. It was a good healthy main course. Now comes the best part of any meal, the desserts. Though we were full with all the food, we just didn’t want to miss the Cuban desserts. El Carmelo which basically is baked chocolate ice cream with meringue was stunning and I could go back to this place only for this. The other one we tried was a simple caramel desserts but was so yummy called the Flan de caramelo. Another Cuban speciality that they have in their menu is a wide range of hand made cigars, so go through the menu or do ask your server. I would really like to check this place out on a Friday, their manager told me it’s one of their best nights. So I’m coming back for sure.
