With Ramadan around the corner, Dubai gets ready to welcome it with open arms. There will be iftar preview all over the region to cater to all kinds of people. I was invited for one such iftar preview by Monica from DoinDubai, at her residence in Arabian ranches. Dish catering, one of the pioneers in the field had exclusive prepared for us their iftar menu for this year and it was amazing, to say the least.
This menu starts with some refreshing drinks, lychee juice with rose and green apple with cucumber, lemon and basil alongside with some dates to break your fast. Moving forward we had a very tasty roasted butternut squash and red lentil soup. The green olive hummus with pistachios was everyone’s favorite served with crispy bread.
The mains were stunning, let me run you through the same. Braised shoulder of lamb with pilaf rice was the house favorite. The lamb was so tender and the rice so flavorful with middle eastern spices served with honey yogurt. The next one is a unique dish of chicken marinated in pomegranate and rose and grilled served with parsley and almond salsa. We also had some very flaky and delicious salmon for the mains.
We had 3 very different and interesting side dishes too. First one was the salad with grilled peach, grilled beans, and orange blossom dressing. We also had a middle eastern salad with fried cauliflower, torn falafel, pine nuts, sumac and tahini dressing. Lastly, we had a lovely beetroot baked with zaatar, harissa labneh with mint.
Next came in the desserts, for the actual iftar you can choose between any of the two but we have the chance of having both. First was a chocolate ball made of milk chocolate, coconut cremaux and had a passionfruit and vanilla compote filling. This was the house favorite. The other one was a very interesting take on a mouse with grapefruit curd, caramelized grapefruit, pomelo and citrus meringue. To sum it all up, I think you shouldn’t miss this iftar dinner this Ramadan.
