From the team that gave us the amazing Bombay Bungalow in JBR, comes yet another exciting venture, MASTI. Masti, which translates to ‘fun and mischief’ is a new Indian restaurant at Dubai’s current hot spot, La Mer. Masti is the first licensed place in La Mer and serves a creative menu of Indian sharing plates with a modern and global influences. Masti is not your typical Indian curry house. There is no biryani, no butter chicken. Coming from the celebrity Chef Hari Nayak and executive Chef Prashant Chipkar, this menu is bold and exciting, with flavors that are Indian yet global in its appeal. So to give you an example, Masti has butter chicken on a pizza with a burrata and a Saag Paneer Lasagne, which has all the India-ness of a palak paneer but with an Italian influence. How does that sound?
Masti is uniquely designed, much like everything here. Nayak and Chipkar’s experiments work and they work big time as the food looks stunning and tastes delicious. Each plate is prepared and presented with perfection. So our journey started with cold plates in which we had the Black Bass Ceviche, a unique Tuna Tartare Bhel and Fava Bean Salad which I absolutely loved. The menu moves on to small hot plates having equal amounts of vegetarian, meat and seafood options. The Saag Paneer Lasagna and Meat Kheema Popsicle stole the show. You also have to look out for Banana Branzino and Beetroot Croquettes, it’s going to blow you away. If you have a sweet tooth don’t forget to indulge in some of their skillfully crafted desserts. My favorite being the Lotus Tiramisu, a twist on the classic tiramisu with lotus and chocolate basundi. The Carrot Coconut Cake is extremely pretty looking and big on taste. For all the chocolate lovers, they have this rich Chocolate Delice which has an exotic chocolate cumin and strawberry mousse.
Another aspect that makes Masti more fun and mischievous is their drinks sections. Masti has a licensed first floor where you can enjoy the comforts of the Indoors or have fun at their terrace lounge. The heady signature concoctions compliment the food just perfectly. Look out for Holy Tulsi Batman, High Chai and Holi, you cocktail fans are in for a treat. Lastly, I would like to thank Chef Hari Nayak and Chef Prashant Chipkar for giving us such a brilliant menu and for taking Indian cuisine to the next level.
If you havent been to Masti yet, you are missing out on a lot.
