Bombay or Mumbai as it’s called now has a diverse culture that reflects on their food. Two of the popular cuisines among them are Parsi and Iranian. In Bombay, you would find a lot of cafes serving some delicious dishes from these cultures and can easily be called the heart of bombay food. Moombai n co., the newest addition to the restaurants at the H Dubai on Sheikh Zayed road does exactly the same. The restaurant transports you to Mumbai with its tastefully done interiors and the filmy music. So coming to the menu, it’s basically a Parsi/ Irani cuisine and the restaurant has a well stocked up bar. We started off with their Alcoholic Gola which is an ice lolli with the flavor of your choice and alcohol.
My top picks from their starters was the kheema pao and the lababdar lamb chops. The parda sheekh was another good appetizer. Coming to the drinks, they serve India’s very own Kingfisher beer. We had some of their bottled cocktails, these are some heady concoction and not at all for the faint-hearted. Moving on to the mains, the Sali Margi which is a chicken curry with straw potatoes stole my heart. The Nalli iNhari which was served with mini samosas were lovely too. My friend finished the entire portion of this Nihari. A Parsi specialty of preparing eggs with okra was yet another favorite with the group called the Bheeda Par Eda. The Zaffran Gosht biryani was a bit of a disappointment as it lacked the flavor of a wholesome biryani. We absolutely loved the retro Bollywood songs playing in the background
For dessert, we had their prettiest looking kulfi platter which had a variety of kulfi on a bed of ice and freshly cut fruits. the other dessert we tried was the baked gulab jamun with rabdi and I think you should not leave the restaurant without giving this one a try. Moombai & Co. is something you don’t want to miss, the place is a lot of fun with family or with a bunch of friends.
