Ricetta is the newest addition to the Italian food scene in Dubai, it’s very conveniently located at the Four Points by Sheraton in Bur Dubai. The interiors are neatly done keeping in mind the theme of the restaurant. The bright yellow walls, red and white checkered table cloth give the place an authentic Italian feel. Spearheaded by Italian Chef Alex Sebastianutti, this restaurant is getting back a lot of local and authentic Italian recipes to Dubai. Ricetta has those laid back and calmer vibes to it. I love their seating by the pool, perfect for a gloomy day. So when we got comfortable in our chairs, Chef Alex explained us the menu and the concept behind Ricetta and how most of his recipes are influenced by mother’s and grand mother’s cooking.
We started off with 2 drinks, a Strawberry mojito and the Cinderella with a plate of fresh basil bread bites. The complementary bites were just the right thing to start off with and the drinks were really good. I personally liked the Mojito better. As I mentioned about the overcast weather, so I was craving a nice bowl of hot soup and Chef Alex just had the right one for me. Zuppa di Verdu di Primavera, a traditional Italian soup with a lot of chunky veggies served with crostini bread and was just the warm hug I needed.
Salads and starters were the next to follow and the Insalatona Con Formaggio di Capr stole my heart. This goat ricotta cheese salad had beetroot, grapes, apricot, lettuce and a nice pour of balsamic vinegar. Arancini, stuffed with minced beef was another hit. Calamari Fritti, the fried calamari were decent with a delicious aioli dip.
For the mains we had the Tagliatelle Fungi Porcini– a simple pasta tossed with a mushroom sauce and some chicken, I loved the subtle flavors in this one. My Friend ordered the beef Lasagne and just couldn’t stop talking about it, she told me it was the best she had in recent times. The Pizza with 4 different topping was average and couldn’t match the other great quality food that was on the table. As we got to the best part of any meal we were almost full but we couldn’t say no to a couple of desserts chef was insisting us to try. The Fragola Tiramisu that is the strawberry variant of the Italian classic was absolutely delicious, with fresh mascarpone cheese, savoirdi biscuits and dusted with cocoa powder. The second was a very interesting goat ricotta cheese dessert called the Cassata Siciliana. It’s basically a goat ricotta cheesecake served with candied fruit.
My overall experience was more than satisfactory and I would recommend this place for authentic Italian lovers. I’m surely coming back for the salad and the Tiramisu.
