This lovely little Italian place located in Jumeirah center in Jumeirah 1 has a lot to offer. I found the interior very cute and welcoming. We met executive chef Ali and their manager Jerome and were ushered our table. The Chef ran us through their huge menu and suggested some of their classics. We were served some of their complimentary house dips with fresh bread and Russo has already made a good impression on me. In comes our drinks, Kiwi Mojito, Passionfruit Mojito and the Pinacolada. All drinks were good and we had a great start to our session.
We ordered some Antipasti too before we started our main course and boy I was glad we did. Eggplant Rollatini [AED 25]- breaded eggplant stuffed with Ricotta on mozzarella with an extremely creamy tomato sauce with loads of parmesan and extra virgin olive oil. This is a must try dish here, something I had never tried before. Spinach and Artichoke dip [around AED40]- Served with their in-house bread, this creamy dip was made to perfection and is just something you need to satisfy your cheesy cravings.
Our main course had a mix of all the Italian classics. Risotto Al Funghi [AED60]- Rice with Portabella mushrooms, truffle oil, and parmesan. This dish was decent but nowhere close to the other stuff that was served. Ravioli Di Ricotta [AED45]- Who doesn’t love a good ravioli? Chef Ali made this one stuffed with Ricotta cheese and was tossed in a lovely marinara sauce. Stunning! Lasagne Al Forno [AED40]- An all time classic, with fresh pasta sheets, beef, and Bolognese sauce. The Pizza – Chef Ali combined 4 pizzas in one for us. The margarita, chicken, shrimps, and beef. I found their Margherita to be the best.
After all this, we could barely stuff anything else in our tummies but Chef Ali insisted we try their Panacotta [AED 25] which is a classic Italian dessert served with a sweet tangy strawberry jam. We loved this one and glad we ordered it because there is always some space for some desserts, isn’t it?
All in all, Russo serves very good Italian food at a fairly reasonable price. They are also very famous for their giant 28 inch Pizza. You guys need to pay a visit here, won’t be disappointed.
