Looking for the perfect venue for your special day or even a casual celebration? The Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club has you covered. Located near Dubai Studio City, the massive facility features 357 air-conditioned stables, lush green gardens and intricately designed structures. I was recently there for a bloggers’ meet-up held by Monica Kapila from DoinDubai and had a chance to check out the venue which, I thought, is perfect for weddings and other private functions. While there are a couple of spaces within the Club, I’d like to highlight two major ones that I think are ideal for personal events and gatherings.
First is the Palermo and Ippos Terrace, which overlooks the club’s extravagant polo field and is ideal for intimate functions like weddings. The 400 person-capacity venue has direct access to the polo field, which means the bride and groom have the chance to make a cinematic entry in a horse-drawn carriage from the field to the Terrace. I think that really sets apart this locale from other wedding locations in the city.
Next is the 250-seater Saha Courtyard, located at the centre of the Club. I think the Courtyard might be exactly what you need for a casual cocktail party or similar private event. Its decor includes a lavish fountain, which I think brings a certain charm to the ambiance and also makes for an elegant setting under the stars.
Other facilities at the Club include a state-of-the-art spa – which also offers a bridal package – and a temperature-controlled outdoor swimming pool, with a special one for children. You don’t need to be a member of the Club to use these and can book them on ad-hoc basis, which makes it perfect as a family getaway for balmy Friday mornings!
Also featured at the Club are restaurants offering varied cuisines and licensed liquor outlets. During our visit, we were served some really cool drinks – alcoholic and non-alcoholic – with vegetarian canapés – small bites of asparagus roll – and chicken satay. The food complemented the drinks we were served. Next came a mix of Mediterranean and Indian cuisine, which included cold appetisers and salads like hummus with crispy bread, fattoush, quinoa tabouleh, squash and goat’s cheese salad, and octopus palmito. I personally found the squash and goat’s cheese salad and quinoa tabouleh to be really delicious and healthy options for any function!
The mains were served as family-style shareable dishes and we loved what came our way. The Mix grill platter features a variety of meat and chicken kababs and grilled vegetables. Grilled Hamour was the group favorite with buttered cabbage, and the Harra sauce complimented the dish very well. Chicken Biryani with a drizzle of raita was dum cooked and the meat’s tender pieces were almost falling off the bone – minimum oil, good stuff. A cheesy and well-made vegetarian Lasagne was another good addition to the evening’s menu. Butter Paneer was also a part of the menu for those looking for vegetarian options and for those fancying red meat, a slow roasted beef fillet was available. To tie it all together, we were served an assortment of house special desserts and I must say, this house is led by a very skilled person – Chef Samson.
Overall, I think the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club is the ideal venue for your private functions – birthday parties, weddings and anniversaries alike! The Emaar-owned club can be tailor-made upon request to suit your needs, making it the perfect locale to create unforgettable memories.
